A prerequisite before booking such a course would be the successful completion of the Theory & Hazard Perception tests without which it is not possible to book the practical test.
Course fee payable in advance £870
Instructor training for PDIs
Instructor training for Parts 2 & 3 is available for Prospective Driving Instructors after successfully completing Part 1. These usually prove to be both challenging and enjoyable. Advice is freely available if I can be of any help. Any PDI would be ill-advised to commit themselves to paying a huge non refundable course fee before they are confident that they will ultimately be successful. Accordingly the charges are hourly based.
Pass Plus
After passing the practical driving test, the DSA recommends that all new drivers take the Pass Plus course. This is a minimum of 6 hours tuition that extends a new driver’s ability to deal safely with driving environments not specifically covered by the test. It reflects official concern about the disproportionately high level of accidents experienced by new drivers
of all ages.
Use of motorways and high speed dual carriageways, rural routes and driving in the dark where there is no street lighting are especially emphasized, but the course can be adapted to meet a pupil’s particular needs.
On completion of the course, many major insurance companies discount their premiums by up to 30%, so the course is more than self financing.
All my Pass Plus pupils have consistently remarked on how enjoyable their course has been, freed from the shackles of preparation for the test!
The mother of one of my recent Pass Plus pupils in Fetcham was so intrigued by the course that she asked for some additional tuition for herself, as she had always been apprehensive about using motorways. Further proof that the driving test is just the start of your driving experience.
Spread over three sessions, the course costs £145 (£135 in your own car) and should bring a smile to your face and your insurance premium! Sadly, the TfL subsidy whereby 45% of the cost was refunded has now been terminated.
